Explanation

The Faraizis (Faraizi) were followers of the sect run by Haji Shariatullah of Faridpur in Bengal. They advocated many radical religious, social, and political changes. Shariatullah’s son, Dudu Miyan, planned to drive the British out of Bengal. The period from 1818 to 1862 was the main phase of the Faraizi movement; the movement continued even afterward, but its pace slowed down.
