In April 1936, in Lucknow, the ‘All India Kisan Congress’ was formed, which was later renamed the ‘All India Kisan Sabha’. Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, the combative founder of the Bihar Provincial Kisan Sabha, was chosen as its President, and N.G. Ranga—an important leader of the peasant movement in Andhra and a scholar of agricultural problems—was chosen as its General Secretary. Along with the Faizpur session of the Congress, the second session of the All India Kisan Congress was also held, which was presided over by N.G. Ranga.
