Who led the revolt of 1857 in Bihar?

Explanation

In 1857, the revolt at Jagdishpur was led by Kunwar Singh, who belonged to Arrah (Bhojpur district) in Bihar. He raised the banner of revolt against the British. Nature had endowed him with indomitable courage, bravery, and the ideal qualities of a military leader; therefore, he is rightly regarded as the “Lion of Bihar” during the revolt. He overthrew British authority in the then Shahabad and established his own government. He moved towards Kalpi to help Nana Saheb for a joint attack on Kanpur. He carried the flame of revolt to Rohtas, Mirzapur, Rewa, Banda and Lucknow, where he was welcomed with great respect. As his final success, he badly defeated the British near his hometown Jagdishpur. During this battle, he was severely injured after being defeated by the British commander William Taylor, and he attained martyrdom on 26 April, 1858. However, in some sources the date of his death is given as 9 May, 1858, which is erroneous.
