cYaduvendra Singh
dSwami Sahajananda
Explanation
The Pagal Panth was a semi-religious sect initiated by Karam/ Karim Shah. In reality, it was a revolt associated with the Garo tribe. The Pagalpanthi revolt mainly spread in the Sherpur and Mymensingh regions of Bengal (located in present-day Bangladesh). Shah’s son and successor Titu (Tipu) was driven by religious and political objectives. He led a movement against the atrocities committed by zamindars on tenants (muzaras). In 1825, Titu captured Sherpur and declared himself king. He became so powerful that he began exercising independent authority, and to run the administration he appointed a judge, a magistrate, and a collector.
