To propagate the monotheistic ideals of Hinduism, Raja Rammohan Roy, with the help of his young supporters, founded the “Atmiya Sabha” in 1815. He criticized idol worship and argued with evidence that all ancient original Hindu religious texts preach one Brahman. In support of this, he translated Vedanta texts such as Vedanta Sutra, Vedanta Sara, etc., and also translated five major Upanishads into Bengali.
