Sir James David Sifton served as Governor of Bihar and Odisha from 26 April, 1929 to 25 August, 1929; from 5 June, 1930 to 21 September, 1930; from 7 April, 1932 to 12 October, 1934; and again from 11 February, 1935 to 31 March, 1936. Thereafter, from 1 April, 1936 to 10 March, 1937, he served as Governor of Bihar. After the division of the Bihar and Odisha Province, he @Apnapdfs became the first Governor of Bihar. After him, Sir Maurice Garnier Hallett became the Governor of Bihar on 11 March, 1937.
