Rabindranath Tagore was born in the city of Calcutta on 7 May 1861. In 1901, he started a school at Santiniketan called the Brahmacharya Ashram. On 23 December 1918, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore laid the foundation of Visva-Bharati.
