Which Act provided for the competitive exam system for Civil Services?

Explanation

In the Charter Act, 1853, it was provided that the salaries of the Board of Control and its other officers would be fixed by the government; however, the Company would pay them. The number of Directors was reduced from 24 to 18, out of which 6 were to be nominated by the Crown. It also provided that appointments would now be made through competitive examinations, without any kind of discrimination.
