When was the Rowlatt Act passed?

Explanation

To curb the rising revolutionary activities in India, the government constituted a committee in 1917 under the chairmanship of Justice Sidney Rowlatt, with the objective of preparing an effective plan to suppress terrorism. On the basis of its recommendations, the bill passed in March, 1919 came to be known as the Rowlatt Act. Under the Rowlatt Act, the British government could imprison anyone, without trial, for a maximum of two years. Therefore, this law was called the law of “No appeal, No dalil, No Vakil”.
