When did Muslim League observe “Direct Action Day”?

Explanation

The date 16 August, 1946 was fixed by the Muslim League for “Direct Action Day”. Rejecting the Viceroy’s decision regarding the Interim Government, the Muslim League demanded the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign state of Pakistan. The aim on that date was to incite riots and create an atmosphere of terror to show that Hindus and Muslims could not live together. In this action, Noakhali became a major centre of the riots.
