What is the reason for the war-like tension between North Korea and America?

aNorth Korea's outright refusal to allow inspection of its nuclear sites✓ Correct
bThe United States deploying its Patriot missiles in South Korea
cEconomic blockade of North Korea by Japan and the United States
dAmerica's exclusive control over the Korean Peninsula under regional policy

Explanation

In 1985, North Korea joined the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Again, in 1992, North Korea concluded an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for safeguards-type inspections of its nuclear facilities, and thereafter the IAEA began inspections. In 1993, North Korea prevented IAEA inspectors from inspecting two suspected sites that it had not declared as nuclear facilities, though they were considered suspicious. As a result, tensions rose between North Korea and the United States, and North Korea attempted to withdraw from the NPT. Amid this tension, the warning by the then U.S. President Bill Clinton that “any attempt by North Korea to process plutonium from fuel rods would be considered crossing the red line” intensified war-like tensions between North Korea and America. On June 12, 2018, in Singapore, a joint statement was issued by the United States and North Korea towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
