Explanation

Tipu Sultan made Srirangapatnam his capital, and here French officers established the Jacobin Club (it was a branch of the Jacobin Club established in France; Tipu Sultan supported this club and is also said to have become its member). He (Tipu) planted a Tree of Liberty in his capital as a symbol of friendship between France and Mysore. Tipu Sultan sent his missions to Arabia, Constantinople (modern Istanbul), Kabul and Mauritius in order to establish friendly relations with contemporary foreign states and to obtain their support against the British.
