Three numbers are in the ratio of 3 : 4 : 5. The sum of the largest and smallest numbers among them is equal to the sum of the second number and 52. Accordingly, what is the smallest number?

a27
b39✓ Correct
c52
dMore than one of the above
eNone of the above

Explanation

Let the three numbers be 3x, 4x and 5x respectively. As per the question $$5x + 3x = 4x + 52$$ $$4x = 52$$ $$x = 13$$ $$3x = 3 \times 13 = 39$$ Therefore, the smallest number is 39. ## Page 10
