The Tebhaga Movement (1946–47) was a famous peasant movement of Bengal. Under it, peasants began a struggle to reduce the rent rate to one-third in accordance with the recommendations of the ‘Floud Commission’. This movement, fought under the leadership of the Bengal Provincial Kisan Sabha (BPKS), was a movement of sharecroppers against the jotedars.
