The radius of a solid sphere of a metal is 3 cm. How long a wire of 4 mm diameter can be drawn from it?

a8.8 m
b9 m✓ Correct
c9.1 m
dMore than one of the above
eNone of the above

Explanation

Given that, Radius of the solid sphere = 3 cm. Diameter of the wire = 4 mm. = 0.4 cm. ∴ Radius of the wire = 0.2 cm. Let the length of the wire = l cm. According to the question Volume of solid sphere = Volume of wire $$ \frac{4}{3} \pi(3)^3 = \pi(0.2)^2 \times l $$ $$ 4 \times 9 = 0.04 \times l $$ l = 900 cm. = 9 m.
