Explanation
From the archaeological site named Chirand in Saran district of Bihar, the Neolithic culture has come to light. Excavation at this site has been carried out in various surveys by the Department of Ancient Indian History and Archaeology, Patna University, and the Directorate of Archaeology, Government of Bihar. Evidence of human habitation is seen here from the Neolithic period. This is the first Neolithic archaeological site discovered in any river valley in India.
