Explanation
On 1 October, 1906, a Muslim deputation led by Aga Khan met the then Viceroy Lord Minto at Simla. The deputation demanded a special position for Muslims for elections in provincial, central, and local bodies. In response to this demand, Minto assured the Muslims that their political rights and interests would be protected in India.
