The ‘Kalinga Prize’, awarded for the popularisation of science, was established in 1951. This prize was awarded for the first time in 1952. The first recipient of this UNESCO award was Louis de Broglie of France. India has received the Kalinga Prize 5 times so far. The recipient of the Kalinga Prize is awarded US$40,000 and the Albert Einstein Silver Medal.
