The first Huna invasion of India took place during the reign of the Gupta emperor Skandagupta (around 455 CE), and they were badly defeated by him. This invasion was only a raid and had no major direct impact on the country; however, indirectly it accelerated the decline of the Gupta Empire. After Skandagupta’s death, in the late 5th century and the beginning of the 6th century, the Hunas captured several regions in the north-west.
