The temples built by the Chandela kings at Khajuraho, located in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, still testify to the excellence of Chandela architecture. These temples were mainly constructed between the 10th and 11th centuries, i.e., around 950–1050 CE (the main period of the Chandelas, though construction also took place in earlier and later phases). Among the temples here, the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple is the most prominent.
