The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly was held on 9 December 1946 in the Central Hall of the Parliament House. Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha was appointed as the temporary chairman of this assembly. In the meeting of 11 December 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the permanent chairman. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Indian Constitution.
