Explanation

The present districts of Bhagalpur and Munger in southern Bihar were included in the Anga Mahajanapada. Its capital was Champa. In the Mahabharata and the Puranas, the ancient name of Champa is found as Malini. According to the Digha Nikaya, the plan for building this city was prepared by the architect Mahagovinda. The last ruler of the Nanda dynasty was Dhanananda, who was a contemporary of Alexander. Greek writers called him Agrammes. Xenophon describes him as a very wealthy person.
