Explanation

In May 2017, the base year of the All-India Wholesale Price Index was revised. For measuring the WPI, the base year was changed from 2004-05 to 2011-12. Earlier, 1952-53, 1961-62, 1970-71, 1981-82, 1993-94, and 2004-05 were WPI base years. With base year 2011-12, it became the 7th WPI series.
