The kidney is an important organ of the human body. Its main function is to purify the blood and remove toxic substances from the body through urine. Human kidneys filter about 180 liters of blood daily and produce about 1.5 liters of urine. About 1200 c.c. of blood flows through the kidneys per minute, which is nearly 1/5 of the blood pumped out by the heart in one minute.
