The All India Kisan Sabha was formed in 1936. Swami Sahajanand Saraswati was elected its first President and N.G. Ranga its General Secretary. In 1949 (shortly before his death), Sahajanand formed the All India United Kisan Sabha. The basic demand of this organisation was the nationalisation of land, waterways, energy, and all sources of wealth and property.
