On 11 October, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’. Under this scheme, the plan was that by 2016, each MP would develop one Gram Panchayat, and later, two more Gram Panchayats were to be developed by 2019. From 2019 to 2024, the scheme provided that each MP would develop one more model village every year (total five).
