Explanation
According to the description in Tarikh-e Daudi, after understanding the geographical and strategic importance of Patna, Sher Shah built a strong fort here in 1541 AD and made it the capital of Bihar. The ancient name of Patna was Pataliputra, which was founded by the emperor Ajatashatru of Magadha. Ajatashatru’s successor Udayin made Pataliputra (Patna) his capital in place of Rajgriha.
