After the Kakori Case (Kakori Train Action), due to the repression launched by the police, the Hindustan Republican Association (H.R.A.) suffered a severe setback. However, later, Bijoy/Vijay Kumar Sinha, Shiv Verma, Jaidev Kapoor, Bhagat Singh, Bhagwati Charan Vohra and Sukhdev began the work of reorganising the H.R.A. under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad. In September, 1928, a meeting was held at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground (Delhi) under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad, in which the name of the H.R.A. was changed to ‘Hindustan Socialist Republican Association’ (H.S.R.A.).
