In the Congress Working Committee meeting held at Wardha in July 1942, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Sarojini Naidu, J.L. Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Sitaramayya, G.B. Pant, Prafulla Chandra Ghosh, Saiyyid Mahmud, Aruna Asaf Ali, J.B. Kripalani, Mahatma Gandhi, etc. participated, and the resolution named “Quit India” was passed, which was adopted on 8 August 1942 in the All India Congress Committee meeting held at Gowalia Tank. It was presided over by Abul Kalam Azad.
