Explanation

The Nathpanthis, Siddhas and Yogis popularized the Bhakti religion in North India. Using simple reasoning and argument, they criticized the ritualistic practices of orthodox religion, other artificial aspects, and the social system of that time. They supported renunciation of the world. According to them, contemplation of the formless Supreme Truth and the experience of becoming one with it is the path to liberation. For this, they emphasized the need to give rigorous training to the mind and body through practices such as yogic postures, pranayama, and contemplation/meditation.
