Muhammad Ghori attacked Gujarat in 1178 AD. At that time, the Anhilwad Chalukya ruler of Gujarat was Mularaja II. Naika Devi, the widowed mother of Mularaja II, acted as his guardian and led the Chalukya (Solanki) army against Ghori. Near Mount Abu, on the field of Kasahrada, the Chalukya/Solanki army defeated Muhammad Ghori. This was Ghori’s first defeat in India.
