Mother Teresa was a citizen of Albanian origin. She was born on 26 August 1910 in the city of Skopje, in present-day North Macedonia. In 1929, she came to Kolkata. To serve the poor and the sick, she founded the institution named “Missionaries of Charity” in 1950 and established a shelter home named “Nirmal Hriday” for the homeless, the sick, and the distressed. Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
