‘Madad-e-Mash’ indicates in Mughal administration –

Explanation

In the Mughal administration, the revenue-free grant of land given to scholars and religious persons was called ‘Madad-e-Maash’. It was also known as ‘Suyurghal’. The inspection of all donated lands was done by the Sadr, and it was also the Sadr’s responsibility to ensure that these grants were not misused. This land was non-transferable, and it remained with the grantee on a hereditary basis.
