This river forms the boundary between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and ultimately meets the Ganga River near Chausa in Buxar district. Kanwar Lake (Kabar Tal Wetland), Asia’s largest freshwater oxbow lake and bird sanctuary, located in Begusarai district of Bihar, was included in the list of Ramsar sites in July, 2020. It is Bihar’s first Ramsar site and the 39th Ramsar site of India.
