Explanation
The tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah was built by Nur Jahan between 1622-28 A.D., after the death of her father. It is a highly ornate building situated on the bank of the Yamuna River in Agra. This quadrangular tomb is the first Mughal-period tomb in which marble was used on a large scale, and for decoration, the pietra dura technique was used—probably for the first time in Islamic buildings. <!-- layout: ccqs, vhiu, wsok, cfjo, pwty, misk, xano, xhcp, qfmt, jfov -->
