Before its establishment at the all-India level, the Hindu Mahasabha was formed at the provincial level. First, in Punjab province, the Punjab Hindu Mahasabha was established in 1909. The Hindu Mahasabha was founded in April, 1915 at the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar under the name “Sarvadeshik Hindu Sabha”. In 1921, the name of this organization was changed to “Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha”.
