dMore than one of the above✓ Correct
eNone of the above
Explanation
Black soils are found over most parts of the Deccan Plateau. This includes parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The largest extent of this soil is found in Maharashtra. Deep black soil occurs in the upper parts of the Godavari and Krishna river basins and in the north-western part of the Deccan Plateau. These soils are also called regur and cotton soil. Generally, black soils are deep, clayey, and impermeable. They swell and become sticky when wet, and shrink when dry. They are also known as self-ploughing soils. Due to slow absorption of moisture and low moisture loss, black soil retains moisture for a long period.
