In a bag, 5-rupee, 2-rupee, and 1-rupee coins are in the ratio of 2:3:4. The total value of all the coins is Rs. 2000. How many 2-rupee coins are there in the bag?
a250
b200
c400
dMore than one of the above
eNone of the above✓ Correct
Explanation
Given that the ratio of 5 rupee, 2 rupee and 1 rupee coins is 2 : 3 : 4 respectively. Let the ratio coefficient be z, Therefore, there will be 2z coins of Rs 5, 3z coins of Rs. 2z, 2 and 4z coins of Rs 1. Given that the total value of the coins is Rs. 2000, Therefore, $5 \times 2z + 2 \times 3z + 1 \times 4z = 2000$; Thus, $10z + 6z + 4z = 2000$; Then, $20z = 2000$; Therefore, $z = \frac{2000}{20} = 100$ Therefore, there are 200 coins of Rs 5, 300 coins of Rs 2 and 400 coins of Rs 1. Thus the correct answer is option (e).
