Explanation

The second session of the Congress was held at Calcutta from 27–30 December 1886, under the presidency of Dadabhai Naoroji. A total of 436 registered delegates participated in the second session. In the first session, the number of Muslim representatives was 2; in the second session it became 33; in the third session (1887) it became 81; and in the fourth session (1888) it reached 221. (85)
