Explanation
On 4 March 2005, on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet, the President signed the order dismissing the government led by Pratap Singh Rane and imposing President’s Rule in Goa. After this decision, the state assembly was kept in suspended animation. Later, the Congress party again formed the government under Pratap Singh Rane in June 2005. Pratap Singh Rane was the Chief Minister of Goa from June 2005 to June 2007. In June 2007, after the Congress party secured the highest number of seats in the Goa Assembly election, the government was formed under Digambar Kamat. At present, Goa has a BJP government led by Chief Minister Pramod Pandurang Sawant.
