Article 85 of the Constitution of India provides for the sessions, prorogation, and dissolution of Parliament. Under it, the President has the power to summon each House of Parliament from time to time; however, the session of Parliament must be summoned in such a manner that the interval between the last sitting of one session and the first sitting of the next session is not more than six months.
