During the Quit India Movement, Jayaprakash Narayan formed the “All-India Azad Squad” on an island called “Bakri ka Tapu”, located in the Terai region of Nepal, in the floodplain of the Kosi River. It was formed especially to carry out acts of sabotage against the government, so that the government’s war activities could be obstructed. In May 1943, under British pressure, the Government of Nepal arrested Jayaprakash Narayan.
