Under Article 101(4) (for Parliament) and Article 190(4) (for the State Legislature), if a member is, without the permission of the House, absent from all its sittings for a period of 60 days, the House may declare the seat vacant. However, in computing this period, no account shall be taken of any period during which the House is prorogued or is adjourned for more than four consecutive days.
