At the block level, the Panchayat Samiti is an administrative authority, which functions as a coordinating and supervisory institution between the Gram Panchayat and the Zila Parishad (District Panchayat). It establishes a link between the Gram Panchayat and the Zila Parishad. In the Kshetra Panchayat, the elected members will elect from among themselves one Pramukh, one Senior Up-Pramukh, and one Junior Up-Pramukh. The functions assigned to the Kshetra Panchayat will be carried out through committees, and for this purpose the following committees will be constituted—Education Committee, Public Works Committee, Public Health Committee, Family Welfare and Rural Sanitation Committee, etc.
